Opposition MMD President Nevers Mumba has given the Police the benefit of doubt whether their decision to start granting permits to opposition political parties to hold public rallies is sustainable.

Dr Mumba says this is because of the concerns President Michael Sata recently raised with regards the issuance of national coverage licenses to some radio stations.

Dr. Mumba says such concerns as expressed by the Head of State have raised fears that President Sata does not want other people in the country to have a wider audience.

He says this is why his party will continue to monitor whether the new stance by the Police to allow the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) to continue having rallies will be sustained.

Dr. Mumba tells QFM News in that the MMD will to this effect apply to hold a rally on Copperbelt.
