The Anti-Corruption Commission in Solwezi has arrested a Training Assistant at First Quantum Minerals Kalumbila Mine for alleged corrupt practices involving K5, 000.00.

ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono says Thomas Mwale, 33, of House No. 222 Jamo Street, Mufulira was arrested on Sunday 27th October 2013 and charged with two counts of Corrupt Practices with Private Person contrary to Section 20 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

Mr Moono says in the first count, it is alleged that Mwale, between 1st February and 31st October 2013, corruptly solicited for K5, 000 cash gratification and actually received K2, 000 from Dominic Lyuni of Chantente Mining Services as an inducement of reward for Mwale to facilitate the recruitment of Lyuni at Kalumbila Mine, a matter involving First Quantum Minerals, a Private body.

In the Second Count, Mwale is alleged to have corruptly solicited for K300 MTN Airtime, and actually received K50 Airtime from Lyuni as an inducement for Mwale to facilitate his recruitment at Kalumbila Mine, a matter involving First Quantum Minerals, a Private body.

Mr Moono says Mwale has since been released on Bond and is due to appear in Court soon.
