The money would be used to scale up sensitisation programmes in constituencies up to September next year.
Finnish Ambassador to Zambia Pertti Antteinen signed on behalf of his government, while APNAC -Zambia chairperson Cornelius Mweetwa signed on behalf of APNAC at a signing ceremony held at the Finish embassy in Lusaka yesterday.
APNAC -Zambia secretary Lazarus Chungu said the money would go towards enhancing awareness programmes on the fight against corruption which was the core business of the APNAC.
Mr Chungu, who is Lupososhi Member of Parliament (MP), said money would go towards various activities of APNAC such as formulation of databases, training of parliamentarians in corruption issues as well as capacity-building.
Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, Mr Antteinen said the Finnish government was happy to continue with the relationship with parliamentarians in fighting corruption in Zambia.
Mr Antteinen said this was so because the role of parliamentarians in the fight against corruption could not be emphasised as they were the law makers and had touch base with the grassroots.
Mr Antteinen said with the support received from the Finish government, APNAC should scale up its role of fighting corruption by intensifying awareness campaigns in constituencies and get everybody involved.
Mr Mweetwa thanked the Finnish government for the gesture and committed the network’s commitment to fighting corruption.
