Lunga 100 Comets 48

AFTER a week’s recess because of the Midlands and the Copperbelt basketball select sides’ clash in Lusaka, Lunga Bullets returned to league action with a bang, inflicting a humiliating 100-48 defeat on the CBU Comets.
The victory moved Lunga within a point on leaders Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) Cavs who top the Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) north league on 19 points after week 10 games played at CBU courts in Kitwe.
YMCA’s bid to reduce the gap on the top two teams suffered a blow as they were beaten 66-58 by leaders CEC Cavs and they remain in third position, six points behind leaders Cavs.
Luanshya Eagles produced a superb performance to sink Nchanga Haulpaks 87-76.
The other week 10 action saw Mufulira Magnets pick up maximum points after subduing Fairview Falcons 57-50.
The women’s league games did not take place, with CEC Queens still firmly on the summit of the table with 16 points after week eight games.
