THE Zambia Daily Mail Limited board of directors has confirmed the appointment of Anthony Mukwita as the company’s managing director. The appointment is with immediate effect.
This follows a decision by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services through Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Mwamba to move Mr Isaac Chipampe to the ministry as director for press and media development.
Board secretary George Zulu made the announcement in a statement yesterday after an extra-ordinary board meeting held in Lusaka.
“The board of directors has welcomed the appointment of Mr Mukwita and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the company to achieve its vision,” the statement reads in part. “We wish to thank Mr Chipampe for the excellent role and contribution he played during his tenure as managing director,” Mr Zulu said.
Mr Mukwita is a journalist who holds a Masters Degree in Professional Communications from Australia’s Edith Cowan University, where he studied full-time and graduated on top of his class. Until his appointment, Mr Mukwita was the deputy managing director of the Zambia Daily Mail.
He brings to the newspaper almost 20 years of both local and international journalism experience having worked for, among others, Bloomberg News where he was a full-time correspondent.
