POLICE in Lusaka have arrested and charged a 32-year-old man for assault and causing malicious damage to property during a Patriotic Front (PF) fracas that happened on Sunday.
Acting police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said Innocent Kalimisha had been charged with five counts of  assault and three counts of malicious damage to property.
Mr Kalimisha was released on police bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Sept 2nd.
PF cadres on Sunday fought each other at Northmead Secondary School damaging property, while leaving several of them injured arising from the current debate on the presidential  endorsement for  the 2016 general elections.
And five men have gang-raped a 19-year-old girl in Kitwe.
Police have since arrested a 22-year-old man suspected to be part of the gang that raped the girl.
Acting Copperbelt Police chief Joyce Kasosa confirmed the incident, saying it happened on Monday at around 19:00 in Race Course Township in Kitwe.
She said the victim met her fate when she was from escorting her friends within the township near Chingola Road cemetery.
She sustained bruises on her private parts and one of the suspects was apprehended by members  of the public who came to the rescue of the teenager after they heard her screaming for help.
She said the suspect identified as Lameck Kampanda of   2233 Kamitika Township in Kitwe was detained at Mindolo police station.
Meanwhile, three people have died on the spot in three different road traffic accidents in Lusaka, Southern and Eastern provinces.
A twelve- year-old female pedestrian of house number 378 old Kanyama was hit by a motor vehicle Toyota Hiace, registration number ACJ5102 driven by Selema Rashid, 28, sustained head injuries  and died on the spot.
In Livingstone, a Toyota Corolla, registration ACJ 6185 hit and killed Ticka Mubila aged between 30 and 40,  who died on the spot after sustaining head injuries.
And Feckson Nyirenda, 30, of Mchini Township in Chipata, eastern province died after a Scania truck registration number N627 he had parked along the road, while the engine was running rolled and hit a Toyota Nadia, registration number ABX 3437 which was also parked by Richard Mwale, 36, of the same township.
Mr Nyirenda was pressed against the vehicle after which he sustained serious injuries and died.
The incidents happened between September 2, 2013 and yesterday.
Police have also instituted investigations into a case in which a 13-year-old boy was found with a human skeleton at Lwitikila Stream on September 2, 2013
The bones have since been collected by the police for further investigations.
