Ministry of Youth and Sport Chief Youth Development Officer, Muna Mukupa has told Qfm that complaints from some youths that they are facing difficulties to access funds because only those with connections are being given the loans are unfounded.
Mr. Mukupa says the ministry considers certain things when approving projects to be funded and that those whose projects are not approved for funding are given reasons.
He says the youth empowerment fund is public money which should be used prudently and that only those that show interest and the acumen to run their businesses access the funds.
And Mukupa says demand for the funds has risen this year, with Lusaka province alone demanding thirty one million kwacha but were only able to be allocated three point nine million.
He adds that with such demand a lot of people will fall on the way side as they have to compete and that the ministry is strict in ensuring that they meet the set criteria.
