Management of the Lusaka South Multi Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ) Limited has expressed happiness at the number of companies that have shown interest in establishing themselves at the zone.

Lusaka South MFEZ Managing Director Fortune Kamusaki said since January this year, a lot of actualization has been done at the zone with over 80 applications received so far from people who want to acquire plots.

Dr. Kamusaki has attributed the overwhelming interest to a good road network in the zone.

He said this yesterday when Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Minister, Yamfwa Mukanga made an impromptu visit of the site yesterday.

He disclosed that the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) and the Zambia Telecommunications Company (ZAMTEL) are among the companies that have shown interest to set up a power station and optic fibre at the zone respectively.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mukanga has urged the Lusaka South MFEZ to continue engaging government on its development issues.

He said government wants to finish works on the MFEZ which has been a topical issue for a long time now.

Mr. Mukanga has since implored the company to translate its plans into reality especially that the MFEZ was not yet fully understood by the public.

The minister has also called on investors to adhere to the best standards of service as they seek to establish themselves at the zone.
