49th ZITF kicks off

Ndola, June 26, 2013, ZANIS – The 49th Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) whose business day started on Wednesday kicked off on a low pace with most stands not ready.

A check at the show grounds found exhibitors still preparing their stands.

But during the exhibitor’s meeting in Ndola last week ZITF chairman Emmanuel Hachipuka said it was important that exhibitors pay for their stands early as well as commence works on the stands to avoid last minute work culture.

And Ministry of Education Organizing Committee Spokesperson Dominic Nyambe said in an interview at the show grounds that the Ministry has introduced a feeding program for pupils in hunger prone areas to encourage them attend classes regularly.

Mr. Nyambe said the feeding programme was introduced due to the poor attendance of pupils in hunger prone areas.

He said the programme is running in all the ten provinces in the country to enhance teaching and ensure equitable learning through integrated cost efficient and sustainable health and nutrition interventions in schools.

“A lot of school going children especially those who are in far places don’t attend school because they have to look for food. So we have introduced this programme to help children attend school.

This programme will encourage them come to school because they will know that they will have food at the end of the day,” Mr NYAMBE said.
