POPULAR gospel artiste Pompi is tomorrow night expected to perform as guest artiste during the Big Brother Africa eviction show.
Pompi, whose real name is Chaka Nyathando, joins a list of Zambian artistes that includes Mampi, JK and Salma, who have previously performed at the show along with a host of big names in the African entertainment industry.
MultiChoice public relations manager Marlon Kananda confirmed the development in an interview with the Weekend Mail yesterday.
Mr Kananda said the invitation extended to Pompi by Big Brother Africa was testimony of the fact that Zambian music was becoming more popular on the African continent.
“As MultiChoice, we are again excited that another Zambian will be performing at the Big Brother show,” Mr Kananda said. “If you look at last year’s show, a lot of Zambian music was being played in the house, which is very good publicity for our artistes.”
Mr Kananda added that the two Zambian housemates, Sulu and Cleo, who are competing for the grand prize of US$300,000 were so far also doing well and expressed hope that this could be Zambia’s year to win the high stakes game for a second time.
The show is now in its fourth week running with five housemates evicted so far. Seven of the remaining housemates have been nominated for eviction and by tomorrow night will learn of their fate.
