Political Activist Bonny Tembo says victory by the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) is a clear testimony that  the people Feira are seeing the benefits  of regime change.

And Mr. Tembo has attributed the landslide PF victory in Feira  to hardwork, discipline and good campaign strategies .

Mr. Tembo has since thanked the Feira electorates for voting wisely and retaining their area Member of Parliament Mr. Patrick Ngoma though on a different ticket.

He said this in a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today.

He said the opposition have proved   irrelevant and they have no capacity to deliver to the aspirations of the people of Feira.

“I attribute the landslide PF victory in Feira as due to hardwork, discipline and good campaign strategies set by the ruling party.

“  The win also signals that the opposition are irrelevant and they have no capacity to develop Feira area and Luangwa district as a whole in terms of answering to the aspirations of the people,” he said.

Mr. Tembo further stated that government has taken a lead in implementing good policies to benefit the Zambian people.

Mr. Tembo, who is PF Campaign Team Member in Feira Constituency, further said  PF has proved to its critics that politics is about service and development and not telling people lies.

The PF candidate Patrick Ngoma has retained his seat and he polled 3 529 votes to beat his nearest rival Eualaria Zulu of UPND who polled 967 votes.

MMD candidate Elias Phiri who in the third place has polled 617 votes while UNIP candidate Charles Kanyama has polled 344 votes.

NAREP’s candidate, Samuel Sikaonga is last in the race and only managed a pantry 63 votes.

A total of 5 615 votes were casted and counted from 31 polling stations of the constituency.

The Feira Parliamentary seat fell vacant when the then MMD Member of Parliament Patrick Ngoma resigned from his position to join the ruling PF.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tembo has disclosed that the opposition are to blame for the loss in Feira.

He cited that the opposition UPND allegedly defied the resolution passed by the Luangwa District Conflict Management Committee over the use of ‘Bufi’ song in its political campaigns in Feira.

Mr. Tembo, who is former Anti-Voter Apathy Project Executive Director, said UPND Deputy Campaign Manager Elizabeth Lungu on several occasions violated the Committee’s resolution that banned the use of the controversial song Bufi by renowned Artist, Petersen.

He further lashed out at senior UPND officials for failing to defend the song as was passed by the Committee at Myila Lodge in Luangwa district.

Mr. Tembo explained that the song Bufi remains banned in the area and the rest of the pending forth coming by elections across the country as the usage of the song during political campaigns is a recipe for violence.

Mr. Tembo narrated that Ms. Lungu played it at the Luangwa Boma and violence nearly erupted until a Bufi Cassette Disc was confiscated by brave PF youths and there was sanity on the political scene.
