Police in Kalomo are investigating circumstances in which a man in his 40s of chief Simwatachela’s area of Zimba district has been brutally murdered and dumped in the bush.

Police sources confirmed having instituted the investigation to ZANIS in Kalomo following the death of Fanwel Mukobocha 49, of Simalonda village, whose body was found in the bush with a deep cut on his forehead in Mafuta area on Tuesday last week.

The body of the deceased has since been taken to the district hospital mortuary for a post-mortem before burial.

Police suspect foul play over the incident, saying a sharp instrument might have been used by his assailant.

And in another development, an unidentified man in Kalomo lost his right leg and had his right hand fingers cut off when a Livingstone train run over him as he tried to crawl under the
wagons to cross the rail line.

Police sources said the incident happened last week on Monday around 21:00 hours when the man tried to cross the rail line and went underneath the wagons but before he could completely cross to the other side, the train started moving and in the process had his right leg and fingers cut.

The man was rushed to Kalomo district hospital and was later referred to Livingstone general hospital with his identity not yet known by press time.
