PF consoles UPND in Luangwa

The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) campaign team in Feira constituency has conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) on the loss of its members in Kavalamanja area two days ago.

PF campaign team spokesperson, Malama Kapanda, said the ruling party was deeply saddened by the death of nine people that were coming from a UPND meeting in Kavalamanja area on Sunday.

Mr Kapanda said the PF prayed that the UPND can be consoled during this trying moment.

He said it was regrettable that some UPND members had to lose their lives during this period of political campaigns for the Feira Parliamentary by-elections on June 20, 2013.

Mr Malama also called for peaceful campaigns among all participating parties after the funeral.

Seven people will be buried in Kavalamanja area tomorrow while two others will be buried in Lusaka.

PF has fielded Patrick Ngoma for the seat while UPND has fielded Euralia Zulu and United National Independence Party (UNIP) has Charles Kanyama on its ticket.

The National Restoration Party (NAREP) is fielding Samuel Sikaonga and the MMD’s candidate is Elias Phiri.

The Feira seat fell vacant after the Patrick Ngoma resigned from the MMD to join PF in March, 213.
