Mufumbwe leaders appeals for hydro power connection

Mufumbwe, May 27, ZANIS ——– Elders and Royal establishments in Mufumbwe district have appealed to President Micheal Sata to speed up the process of connecting the district to the national grid.

Elders and Royal establishments committee Spokesperson Emmanuel Mangisha said the Patriotic Front (PF) government must continue with the project of connecting Mufumbwe and other districts to the national grid in North-Western province and provide people with reliable electricity.

The appeal was made in a statement made available to ZANIS in Solwezi today following a meeting of elders and royal establishment representatives who met to discuss various developmental issues in Mufumbwe recently.

Mr Mangisha said the meeting resolved that government should also consider to build office space for various departments in the district that are squatting for them to provide quality services to the people.

He said a district cannot be a district without proper infrastructure and urged government to look into the matter.

Mr Mangisha said despite the province contributing more to the national economy, the region has no higher learning institution like a university saying this makes the people feel neglected.

“It is our prayer that as a province one day the Patriotic Front government will consider constructing a university for the people of North-Western province”, he said.
