———Lusaka Province Minister, Freedom Sikazwe, has appealed to the Lusaka City Council (LCC) to improve their operations.

This is in reference to the unfinished structures under their supervision, the construction of bridges which have stalled and the uncollected garbage in most townships.

The Provincial Minister made the appeal in Lusaka when he toured Munali Constituency to familiarize himself with the area.

Mr Sikazwe said those days when people need to be pushed or threatened in order to achieve minimum output is long gone.

The Provincial Minister said if the situation does not improve he will start supervising the local authority himself because they have proved that they cannot work with minimum supervision.

Mr Sikazwe said government’s job is to source funds for various projects which must be carried out by the council diligently.

He said there is need for the Lusaka City Coucil to improve their operations and make an impact on the development of the country.

Meanwhile LCC Senior Quantity Surveyor, James Katebe, said the local authority is doing everything possible to improve the situation.

Mr Katebe said the council is overwhelmed with the demand for their services by many townships, but promised to speed up their works.
