Africast Exhibition Management has urged Zambian stakeholders in the tourism sector to take keen interest in exploring the local tourism potential in order to increase the domestic tourism value.

Africast Chief Executive Officer Chimwemwe Nyirenda said increased investment and interest in domestic tourism will help grow the sector even when the number of international tourist visiting the country reduces.

Mr. Nyirenda was speaking to ZANIS in an interview today at the ongoing three-day Zambian International Tourism Expo whose theme is “Tourism Investment; Repositioning for United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Surrounding Tourism Stakeholders”

He said the ongoing tourism expo was aimed at creating an awareness platform among Zambians and the world as a whole on the travel and tourism potential the country possesses.

He noted that the exhibition has attracted 80 participants showcasing various goods and services and was expected to attract over 3,000 visitors by the end of the event.

And CHAS EVERITT International Property Group Consultant, Matora Mbewe, said the exhibition creates a platform for Zambians to learn and take advantage of numerous tourism services offered locally.

Mr. Mbewe said his company has already benefited from the exhibition which opened this morning.

He said CHAS EVERITT International Property Group, which is a broad based estate service provider, has since registered new clients.
