Kabompo High School accountant jailed nine years for theft

—-The Solwezi Subordinate court has convicted and sentenced to nine years imprisonment with hard labour a Kabompo High School accountant of theft involving KR290 000.

 

Senior Resident Magistrate, Tamara Gondwe, found Jairos Ndalama guilty of 33 counts of theft by public servant contrary to the Laws of Zambian.

 

Details of the offence are that Ndalama, on various dates between December 9, 2010 and April 24, 2011, stole various amounts of fuel from the Kabompo High School fuel account domiciled at Shreeraj Total Filling Station in Solwezi amounting to 40,700 litres valued at KR290 000 meant for the school generator.

This is according to a press statement availed to ZANIS by ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono.

Meanwhile, the Drug Enforce4ment Commission (DEC) has arrested a 32 year old Tanzanian National for trafficking in 240 bundles of miraa.

 

Daniel Watson, 32, of Tunduma in Tanzania was arrested for trafficking in 240 bundles of miraa weighing 105kg which he concealed in bales of second hand clothes.

 

The suspect was apprehended at Nakonde check point on a Lusaka-bound vehicle.

 

Meanwhile, the commission in Lusaka has arrested a 21-year-old man of Helen Kaunda for trafficking in 31 rocks cocaine which he concealed in various modes.

 

He was intercepted in Lusaka’s Emasdale area.

 

The suspect has been identified as Matthews Chaili of 122 Helen Kaunda Township in Lusaka.

 

And in the past four days, the DEC has arrested 29 people countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.

 

Among those arrested is Kelvin Mwape, 28, a trader of 1423 Nkwazi Township in Ndola, for trafficking in 25.4kg of loose cannabis which he concealed in a number of plastic bags.

 

All the suspects will appear in court soon.
