Luampa Member of Parliament Josephine Limata has disclosed that Luampa mission district hospital has received K100,000 rebased from the 2012 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Ms. Limata, who is also Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Gender and Child Development, said the council in the area decided to release the CDF in bid to enable the local hospital construct a children’s ward.

She lamented that Luampa mission hospital has been operating for many years now without a children’s ward.

Ms. Limata, who is a member of the opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD), explained that children were sharing wards with adults because the facility lacked a children’s ward.

She was however optimistic that the funds would enable the mission hospital put up a modern structure for children.

She said this when Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde toured the mission hospital.

And Dr. Kasonde has tasked officers in his ministry health to solicit for K50, 000 rebased for procuring a submissive water pump for Luampa mission hospital.

He assured management at Luampa mission hospital that government will within one week state its position over the purchasing of the submissive pump.

Dr. Kasonde encouraged management at the institution to use local initiatives to resolve some of the challenges the hospital was facing.

He further advised management to borrow money from financial lending institutions operating in the province rather than waiting for government to resolve their present challenges.

Meanwhile, Government has donated a vehicle to Luampa mission hospital in an effort to ease transport problems.
