—Police in Kasama have arrested a 27-year-old man of Musenga Township for defiling his eight-year- old niece.
Northern Province Deputy Police Commissioner, Lackson Sakala, confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Kasama today.
Mr Sakala identified the suspect as Emmanuel Musonda of Musenga.
He said Musonda allegedly defied his eight-year-old niece who was left under his care on dates unknown but in April, 2013
Mr Sakala explained that the victim’s guardians reported the matter to police and that the victim has multiple injuries on her private parts.
The Deputy Police Commissioner also revealed that the suspect is in police custody and will appear in court soon.
Meanwhile Mr Sakala has advised parents to be cautious of people they leave to take care of their children.
He said this is because the trusted relatives are the ones taking advantage of children.
