2)—Lala Chief Kabamba the 7th installed

—–The installation of Chief
Kabambe of Lala people in Serenje that has taken almost three years
since the death of Chief Kabamba the 6th  has come to pass.

Speaking on behalf of Central Province Permanent Secretary Annie
Sinyangwe, deputy Permanent Secretary Ronald Sinyangwe thanked the
people of Chief Kabamba for their patience while waiting for
the presidential recognition of Boyd Ngoma as chief Kabamba .

Mr Sinyangwe said the delay to appoint Boyd Ngoma as Chief Kabamba was
not intentional but due to petitions that surrounded the
heir to chief Kabamba’s throne.

He said that it has been observed that there is a high prevalence of
succession disputes in Central Province and country at large which in
some cases have taken years to be resolved.

Mr Sinyangwe however advised the royal highness to prepare family
tree in advance to help government at the time of succession in cases
of disputes.

Chief Kabamba the 7th was recognized by President Michael
Chilufya Sata in accordance with the chiefs Act Chapter 179 of the
laws of Zambia, under statutory No. 70 of 2012 signed on 5th
October, 2012.

And representative of Chief kabamba Smart Mumba thanked the government
for the recognition of Boyd Ngoma as Chief Kabamba.

The installation of chief Kabamba was witnessed by Chairperson of
Chiefs in Serenje District Chief Chitambo, Chief Mailo, Chieftainess
Serenje and chief Chibale.

Others were Chief Chitina and Chief Mulongwe of the Lala people of
Mkushi district and some government representatives.
