Zambia Junior Close squash postponed

—The Zambia Junior Closed Squash tournament which was scheduled to kick off this weekend in Kitwe has been postponed to next week.

Zambia Squash Association (ZSA) president, Norena Muteba, has confirmed the postponement saying the time and the venue of the games still remain Nkana Squash Club in Kitwe.

Muteba told ZANIS Sports in Lusaka today that the tournament, which is divided in the Boys Under-19 and Girls Under-19 categories, will also see the players start accumulating points for rankings.

And Muteba said the Midlands Squash League will kick off this Saturday with six three teams taking part.

Lusaka Squash Club will take on the Zambia National Service and Lusaka Squash Club B awaits Mulungushi Service Club while Green Buffaloes will host Kabwe Squash Club.

Meanwhile, Muteba has commended Zamtel for donating five dongles and five handsets valued at KR1, 750 towards the various squash activities planned for this year.

“We would like to thank Zamtel for this generous gesture and we hope that this partnership will be for a long time to come,” Muteba said.

Muteba also called on other companies to come on board and assist her association in its quest in order to the raise the status of the sport of squash in the country.
