—Livingstone City Council (LCC) has warned all bars to stop admitting underage patrons in their premises.

Public Relations Manager Emmanuel Sikanyika told ZANIS in Livingstone today that the local authority will soon start conducting inspections in bars and night clubs to find out if they are following the law.

He said responsible owners know that they have a moral obligation to help stop teenagers from patronizing bars.

He said bars willingly admitting underage patrons are contributing to creating a society without good moral understanding.

Mr Sikanyika stated that the council working together with the Zambia Police will soon swing into action and close down bars that are allowing such activities to happen in their premises.

"We have enough human resource and we as a local authority is sending out a timely warning to all those engaged in public nuisance that the law shall soon visit them and bring about law and order," he said.

He added that officers will soon be on the ground patrolling bars and night clubs to ensure they are following the regulations.
