———Kalulushi Mayor, Howard Simpemba, says the council will be monitoring all the projects under corporate social responsibility programs by any company in the district.

Councillor Simpemba said this in Chambishi today when he toured projects that would be implemented by Chambishi Copper Smelter (CCS).

He said money was released during the MMD government and paid to the contractors to do an ablution block for Lukoshi Primary School and three government clinic stuff houses but had been left unfinished.

Councillor Simpemba said there is need for the council to be monitoring the projects which CCS intends to finish.

He said CCS has released money to finish the school ablution block in Lukoshi, the three clinic stuff houses and the house for the police officer in charge in Kalulushi which was dilapidated.

The Mayor said the money was already available and the local authority has since selected the projects by priority.

Councillor Simpemba said all the three projects started in 2003 and the workmanship was actually poor.

He said he did not know what had happened to the other money and assumed those projects were fully funded and the money was misappropriated because the period had been long.

He said it so happened maybe because of the location and there was no monitoring.
