A parliamentarian says the Patriotic Front
government remains committed to having as many people access
empowerment programs aimed at uplifting their livelihood and alleviate
poverty.
Speaking in Samfya, Bangweulu constituency area member of
parliament Chifita Matafwali said the PF would remain
true to its promise to see more Zambians generate income through
sustainable entrepreneurial ventures.
The MP said this during the handover of four hammer-mills, three
sets of knitting and sewing machines, and a poultry utensil
unit to four women clubs in his constituency.
The handed over items are a consignment of five hammer-mills, four
sets of poultry utensils, and four sewing and knitting machines for
women groups in Samfya’s Bangweulu and Chifunabuli Constituencies
whose project proposals had been approved by the Ministry of Gender and Child
in Development Division.
Mr. Matafwali said the strive to stimulate enterprise in people would
be achieved now that the various existing empowerment schemes such as
the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC), Youth and women
empowerment funds had been aligned to its policy emphasis to
benefit more ordinary Zambians.
He said such efforts will create employment among young empowered
entrepreneurs who in turn would provide jobs to other youths through
their micro-businesses or trading activities.
The women groups which have benefited and received their share of the
approved projects and equipment in Bangweulu constituency are
Tubombele-Pamo, Tuchili-Tulekula, Yombwe ,and Lumamya .
