—Airtel Zambia has converted more than 49 telecoms sites to solar power generation.

This is in a bid to promoting the green trend of clean eco – friendly telecommunications sites.

In a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Airtel Head of Corporate Communications and Government Relations, Chabuka Kawesha, said the number of telecom sites converted to solar power generation is expected to increase by an additional 40 in the coming fiscal year.

Dr Kawesha said the telecommunications company is happy that it has sustained its objective to contribute to a clean environment.

He called upon local communities in all areas where changes to solar power have been effected to guard the infrastructure and report any seen deliberate damage to Airtel or to the police.

Dr Kawesha said doing so will help eliminate any network service disruption.
