Ndola water shortage irks residents

Kafubu  water and sewerage company in Ndola says water supply to  most parts of Ndola have been affected due to maintenance works .

Kafubu water and sewerage company director of engineering Kabimba Nyirenda told ZANIS in Ndola today during a conducted tour of Northrise and Kansenshi.

Mr Nyirenda said the company is aware of the erratic water supply in most part s of Ndola and has already put people on ground to resolve problems.

Mr Nyirenda said under the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) project, some areas have been ear marked for rehabilitation and the works are already under-way.

“We are currently replacing the old pipes that have been leaking for some time which have been affecting water supply in most areas like Northrise and Kansenshi,” Mr Nyirenda said.

He said the supply of water has been affected in most parts of Ndola because water is shut down in the evenings and opened in the morning to help facilitate the works.

And responding to the cry of erratic water supply by residents in Northrise and upper Kansenshi, Mr. Nyirenda explained that works have not been delayed as they had already commenced and were expected to be completed in July.

Mr. Nyirenda further said the company is not only replacing the worn out pipes but also putting up water tanks and water pumping g machines at Kansenshi Barracks which are the major pumps.
