Kalabo youth run-over by vehicle
Kalabo, March 18, 2013, ZANIS — An eighteen year old man of Kalabo has sustained injuries after being run over by a vehicle on the Kalabo boma-Kashitu main road.
Police confirmed receiving the report to the Zambia News and Information Services [ZANIS] in Kalabo today and identified the victim as Minyoi Nalukui of Malelekwa compound in Kalabo.
Nalukui was hit by a Nissan van registration number ABL 9169 yesterday while riding a bicycle around 16 00 hours at a place opposite the Kalabo hospital compound.
The van was being driven by the owner identified as Nawa Mulenga , 32, of Sefula ‘B’ compound in Kalabo.
Nalukui who sustained a deep cut on the right arm and minor ones on the right thigh was rushed to Kalabo district hospital for treatment.
And a medical officer at Kalabo district hospital Dr David Kabongo said Nalukui was in a bad condition when he arrived at the hospital but had stabilized after receiving treatment.
However, the victims condition worsened this morning and he has since been referred to Lewanika general hospital in Mongu.
Meanwhile, police have charged the driver of the Nissanv Nawa Mulenga for careless driving.
