POLICE in Lusaka have arrested Armcor Security Limited chief executive officer Garry Wadey for the offence of forgery.

Acting police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the development yesterday.

Mr Hamoonga said in an interview that Mr Wadey was arrested on Friday for the offence of forgery and uttering false documents.

“I can confirm that on Friday, we arrested Mr Garry John Wadey who is the chief executive officer.

“He was actually arrested for the offence of forgery and uttering of false documents,” he said.

He said Mr Wadey has since been released on police bond and would appear in court on February 27, 2013.

“At the moment, this is all what I can confirm but other details will be known on February 27, 2013, when Mr Wadey appears in court for the offences,” Mr Hamoonga said.

Police sources said Mr Wadey was locked up at Woodlands Police Station on Friday morning and was only set free in the evening after his lawyers secured his released.

Meanwhile, two police officers at Mazabuka Police Station have been arrested for allegedly drinking on duty, ZANIS reports.

Southern Province police chief, Charity Katanga, said the two officers identified as constable Daka and constable Lundwe had been detained for allegedly drinking on duty, while clad in uniforms.

Ms Katanga said police officers apprehended two uniformed officers drinking beer at a bar near the premises and were in possession of two AK 47 rifles.

They have been charged with neglect of duty and drinking on duty.

In Choma, police have cornered three suspects armed with an AK 47 riffle and six rounds of ammunition.

The three, who included two ex-convicts, were arrested on Saturday after a tip-off from members of the public.

Ms Katanga identified the suspects as Benjamin Likambi, 37 of Dambwa Site and Service in Livingstone and an ex-convict, Muliwana Liswayo, 28, of Kalomo.

The other one is a 47-year-old Bernard Kanzobya of Kaoma District who once served in prison for unlawful hunting.
