Robert Makasa University which is under construction in Chinsali district of Muchinga is now at 95% level of completion.

Flame Project Manager Simon J Kahle said the University which was earmarked for completion by March this year has failed due to a number of challenges the contractor is facing.

Mr Kahle told Muchinga Province Minister, Charles Banda today during the familiarization tour of the project that the delays are as a result of shortage of materials and late payments from the government.

He said if materials were coming to the project on time, works would have been moving very fast and the University would have been handed over by now.

And Mr Kahle has disclosed that Flame trained over 600 youths on various skills as job on training so as to have more skilled people working on the project adding that this is good because there is now enough available skill in the district for various projects.

And Provincial Minister Charles Banda has assured the contractor that the government will do its best to ensure that money owed to the contractor is paid on time.

Mr Banda who commended the contractor for good workmanship also thanked the contractor for the initiative taken to empower the community in Chinsali district by training youths in various skills.

The KR107 million project will be offering training in Mathematics and Sciences to teachers once completed.
