Govt. releases K1 billion for construction of Bus Terminus

Government has released K1 billion (KR1 million) to Kasama Municipal Council towards the construction of a bus terminus and maintenance of markets.

Minister of Local Government and Housing Emerine Kabanshi said she is optimistic that the Council in the area would do a good job by ensuring that the funds are utilized for the intended purpose.

Ms. Kabanshi said this when she paid a courtesy call on Kasama Mayor Francis Kombe at his office in Kasama today.

The Minister pointed out that utilizing the money for intended purpose was important as it would make people appreciate the efforts that government was making.

Ms. Kabanshi stressed the need for the local authority to utilize the funds properly so that government continues to release more funds towards other major projects.

She has since urged the Council to ensure that the money is used in a transparent manner for the benefit of the people in the area.

Meanwhile, Northern Province Minister Gerry Chanda has appealed to the Ministry of Local Government to allow the Provincial Administration to choose the township roads that need to be worked quickly.

And Kasama Mayor Francis Kombe has called on government to further increase funding to Kasama Municipal Council for the continued development of infrastructure in the area.

Mr. Kombe pointed out that it was cardinal to have enough funds as it would allow the local authority foster service delivery for the benefit of the people in Kasama.
