Kambwili discharged from CFB - Pursued by police.

Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili, his son Mwamba and two others have pleaded not guilty to 49 corruption charges.

Mr Kambwili and his co-accused Brano Lukwesa,Mulenga Makasa and his company Mwamona investment and technical services are charged with among other offences being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

During trial before Magistrate Mwaka Mikalile, state witness Sallah Mulenga who is ZANACO operations officer presented copies of Mr. Kambwili’s bank account statements, bank deposit slips and a mandate as evidence.

But the defence objected to the presentation of the evidence, arguing that the state had not followed the rules of obtaining, and presenting bank documents as evidence before the court.

The state, however, argued that it relied on the fact that the witness had confirmed that all the documents were ZANACO documents, further stating that the photocopied documents were all certified by the bank.

Magistrate Mikalile has since adjourned the matter to 3rd July, 2018 for continued trial.

Meanwhile, Mr Kambwili has dismissed some online media reports suggesting that he wants to rejoin the ruling Patriotic Front.

He says he will remain National Democratic Congress (NDC) political consultant for now.
