Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja says opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema who was picked up by Police today for questioning will remain in Police custody, but has not yet been charged.
Mr. Kanganja has told QTV News in an exclusive telephone interview that police are still working on formalities of his case.
He says the Police will tomorrow morning issue a statement to state what charge Mr Hichilema has been given after all formalities have been completed.
The Police Inspector General could however, not state what charge Mr. Hichilema is likely to be given for obstructing the presidential motorcade.
Mr Kanganja states that in the meantime, Mr. Hichilema will remain in total police custody at Lilayi where he was taken after being apprehended from his residence in New Kasama.
