The Movement for Multi Party Democracy-MMD-has suspended its Copperbelt Province Information and Publicity Secretary Peter Phiri for issuing press statements without authorisation.

National Secretary Raphael Nakachinda says Mr Phiri’s continued association with the UPND is tantamount to abrogation of the party’s standing orders and resolutions of the national convention held in May, this year.

Mr. Nakachinda said the MMD under the leadership of Felix Mutati has resolved to work with the ruling PF.

In a letter made available to ZNBC News in Lusaka today, Mr Nakachinda has requested Mr Phiri to exculpate himself within ten days.

And MMD-Mandevu parliamentary candidate Mary Phiri has promised Mandevu residents that she will work towards improving sanitation.

Ms Phiri says the constituency has for a long time had challenges of sanitation.

She also expressed concerns that the constituency lacks adequate health facilities and secondary schools yet it is a vast area.

Ms. Phiri told ZNBC news in an interview that members of Parliament who have worked in the area have not lived up to their promises.

And Patriotic Front-PF- Mandevu parliamentary candidate Jean Kapata has promised to bring more development in the constituency.

Mrs. Kapata says the people in Mandevu will vote based on the infrastructural development the PF government has developed in the area.
