The Teaching Service Commission has dispelled allegations that it is in the process of introducing uniforms for school teachers.
Commission Chairperson Sandra Ndhlovu says no meeting has ever taken place with the ministry of Education to consider plans to introduce uniforms for teachers.
Mrs Ndhlovu said at a media briefing today that the story circulating on social media is a fabrication by people who want to tarnish the image of the Commission and the Ministry of General Education.
And Ministry of General Education Spokesperson Hillary Chipango has urged teachers not to hold discussions on the matter as it is untrue and misleading.
Mr Chipango appealed to teachers to be wary of stories on social media platforms saying they are unsubstantiated and lack facts.
Some on-line publications have circulated stories suggesting that the government is about to introduce uniforms for teachers.
In some cases, sections of the on-line media have carried still pictures of the samples of the uniforms.
