CRIMINALS have broken into a National Savings and Credit Bank branch in Kasempa and stolen K1.8 million cash, North-Western Province deputy commissioner of police Geoffrey Kunda has said.
Mr Kunda said in an interview in Solwezi yesterday that the robbery happened on Monday between 22:00 hours and 23:00 hours.

“The criminals entered the bank through the back door and went to the server room where two safes containing cash were being kept and they opened one safe containing about K2,014,581.65 and got away with K1.8 million cash,” Mr Kunda said.
He also said police went to the scene and found K158,000 abandoned within the bank premises.
Mr Kunda said police have apprehended some people whose names have been withheld to help with investigations.
