A CHINGOLA woman has told the Chingola Magistrate’s Court that a 21-year-old man allegedly beat and dragged her to a nearby enclosure where he raped her.
The woman was testifying against Ronald Chishimba of Mp10, Mushota Street, in Nchanga-North, who is charged with rape.

Chishimba had unlawful carnal knowledge of the woman on February 5 this year despite knowing that she was mentally ill.
The woman testified that she was going for morning prayers when she met Chishimba who started pulling her aside.
“Chishimba started pulling me, and when I tried to resist, he started beating me. He took me to a nearby fence; ripped my dress off and had sex with me,” the victim said.
The court heard that she then rushed home and narrated the ordeal to her mother who later reported the matter to the police.

And the victim’s mother testified that her daughter woke up early in the morning and started off for prayers, but was surprisingly to see her return home crying and blood oozing from her nose.
“I asked her what had happened, and she explained. I went to Chishimba’s house because he is my neighbour, but he was not there. I then reported the matter to the police,” she said.
In his ruling, magistrate Penstone Chiluba put Chishimba on his defence.
The matter was adjourned to September 14, this year, for defence.
