Wayne Rooney has been left out of Manchester United’s trip to PSV Eindhoven.

The club captain is nursing a slight hamstring injury and has earmarked Sunday’s game with Southampton for his return.

 

Striker James Wilson and attacking midfielder Andreas Pereira have been drafted into the squad.

Rooney sustained the injury in training ahead of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Liverpool.

Wilson is expected to go out on loan at the end of the week and Pereira, who was signed from PSV, have both been added to the 18-man squad that was on duty against Liverpool. Pereira suffered an injury while away with Brazil’s Under-23 side but is fit for selection again.
