Zesco United coach George Lwandamina has dispelled assertions that the defending Faz Super League champions are edging ahead as runaway leaders.

Zesco beat Green Buffaloes 2-1 at home in Ndola on Sunday to pick up their six successive league win and saw them maintain a five-point lead at the summit of the table.

The 2014 Super League champions’ current form has also seen them score ten and concede just two goals since June 14 when they lost 2-1 at home against Forest Rangers.

“We opened the second half of the season with the same five-point margin we had a week ago so we are just consolidating our position which is good for the team,” Lwandamina said.

“I cannot say we are unstoppable. We still have games to come and we will see what tomorrow will bring.”

With fourteen games left to play, Zesco lead on 38 points while Power Dynamos and Zanaco second on 33 and third on 29 points respectively.

Furthermore, Zesco have recently picked up crucial away wins over the top three contenders in the first half of the season after beating Power 2-0 on July 9 and Zanaco 1-0 on July 12 to position themselves as firm favourites for 2015 title.
