Mbala man ‘kills’ dad on suspicion that he practiced witchcraft

POLICE in Mbala have arrested a 53-year-old man of Chipoka village in Chief Nsokolo’s area for allegedly murdering his father on suspicion that he was practising witchcraft, Northern Province deputy commissioner of police Alfred Nawa has said.

 

Mr Nawa said yesterday that the the incident happened on Wednesday around 08:00 hours.
The deceased has been identified as Waikunda Silwamba, 93, while the suspect is James Silwamba.
Mr Silwamba’s other son, Christopher, 42, reported the matter to the police the same day.
“James’ son Aaron Silwamba died and he suspected that his father was responsible for his death. the suspect went to his father’s house accusing him of witchcraft and beat him up until he died,” Mr Nawa said.
