Juvenile jailed for threatening to kill his mother & being violent

A 19-year-old peasant farmer in Chief Lubunda of Mwense district has been sentenced to 10 months imprisonment with hard labour for threatening violence and malicious damage to property.

Principal Resident Magistrate Yvonne Nalomba sentenced Peter Kashimike of Mulonga village for threatening violence contrary to the penal code of the laws of Zambia.

 

Particulars of count one were that Kashimike on February 20, 2015 armed with a small log and with intent to cause alarm threatened to kill his mother Catherine Musonda.

And in count two, Kashimike on February 20, 2015 willfully and unlawfully damaged a kitchen shelter for his mother valued at 200 kwacha.

 

In mitigation, the convict requested for lenience as he was an epileptic patient and that he was drunk at the time of the incident.

But magistrate Nalomba found him guilty and sentenced HIM to 10 months imprisonment with hard labour for count one,

and 10 months with hard labour for count two.

The sentences will run concurrently.
