Three pedestrians die on spot after being hit by a vehicle

Three people have died on the spot after being run over by a vehicle along the newly constructed Lilayi road in Lusaka’s Gondwe Compound.

The driver of the Toyota Prado registration number ALV 9436, who has been identified as Alex Hamileno, lost control of the vehicle and hit the pedestrians who were walking on the side of the road.

 

Two of the victims who include an infant have not yet been identified while the third victim has been identified as Limbikani Phiri.

The driver of the vehicle has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and will appear in court soon.

 

This is according to a statement released to TV2 news by Police spokesperson Charity Chanda.

In a separate incident, two people have died in Katete , while three others have been injured after a Toyota Corolla lost control and overturned due to excessive speed.

 

The injured are admitted to Chipata General Hospital while the bodies of the deceased are lying in the University Teaching Hospital and Chipata General hospital respectively.

The driver of the Toyota corolla has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and will appear in court soon.
