Zambia Railways Chief Executive, Muyenga Atanga, has tendered in a 90-day notification of termination of his contract.

Company Head of Corporate Affairs, Benson Ngula, disclosed this in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka on Monday.

But Zambia Railways Board Chairman Davis Chama said he could NOT comment over the matter because he has NOT received Professor Atanga’s resignation letter.

Meanwhile, Malawi and Mozambique has repaired the part of the Railway Line which was washed away by floods on the Ncala corridor.

Mr. Ngula says during the period the railway line was down, Zambia railways lost 20-thousand tones of cargo that was being transported using the route.

He is optimistic that the company will now be able to meet its target of transporting 130-thousand tones of cargo per year.
