Government says youths are endowed with high energy levels and have resourceful minds that if well harnessed would positively impact on the development of a stable and sustainable country.

And government has reiterated its commitment to building a stable and sustainable future for the youths in the country through programmes such as youth skills training in agriculture, carpentry, computers and entrepreneurship.

Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela said this during the Youth day celebrations held in Ndola today under the theme “The Youth Building a Stable and Sustainable Future.”

Reverend Sikwela noted that the participation of youths in the development process on the Copperbelt would result in transforming the province into an economic giant.

Rev. Sikwela said so far 144 youth groups and individuals on the Copperbelt have benefited from the youth development empowerment fund which has in turn created more job opportunities for the young people.

And speaking at the same function, Ndola District Youth Coordinating Committee chairperson Chakupa Sakala thanked the government for introducing the Youth Development Empowerment Fund .

Mr Sakala said the Fund had benefited many youths who have in the long run become their own bosses.
