Grayzer Matapa death: Police arrest another suspect

POLICE in Lusaka have arrested another suspect, bringing the number of suspects arrested in connection with the death of United Paty for National Development official Grayzer Matapa to three.
Police deputy spokesperson Esther Katongo said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the suspect was picked up at a lodge in Lusaka’s Bauleni township where he was hiding.
“We will not give you the details of the suspect  for security reasons, but this person was picked up after a tip-off from members of the public,’’ she said.
Mrs Katongo said police have continued with investigations into the death of Mr Matapa.
Mr Matapa is believed to have been murdered in Lusaka’s Mtendere.
And police have picked up two bodies of male persons aged between 30 to 40 years in Lusaka’s Misisi township.
The two bodies of unknown persons were found floating in Ngwenya dam.

The bodies, which are in Lusaka’s University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary, were found with swollen faces and bleeding noses.
Mrs Katongo said the deceased were beaten by unknown people and their bodies dumped in the dam.
In Northern Province, two people died on the spot after being struck by lightning around 15:00 hours at Chiba football ground in Chief Mwamba’s area in Kasama.
Mrs Katongo said the body of Emmanuel Kangwa, 20, is in Kasama General Hospital mortuary and that of Phoema Chifima, 21, of Milamba is at Mponda village awaiting burial.
Meanwhile, Greenwell Mulenga of Chief Matipula in Chipili died on the spot after being hit by a Toyota Hiace registration number ABZ 3772.
Mulenga, 9, was hit by a car driven by Likonge Kayenge from  Mwenda’s chiefdom in Chipili.
And a three-year-old boy died on the spot after being hit by a vehicle in Chipata.
Arnold Mbewe of Chitika Section was killed around 20:00 hours and his body is in Chipata General Hospital mortuary.
