The National Restoration Party (NAREP) has pulled out of the Grand Coalition demanding for the enactment of a new people Constitution.

NAREP President Elias Chipimo Junior announced his party’s decision at a media briefing in Lusaka this morning.

Mr Chipimo says his party will not be part to the pursuit of personal political agendas over an issue as important as the constitution.

He has however, stated that NAREP remains fully committed to seeing a new constitution enacted before the 2016 general elections.

Mr Chipimo says his party will not wage war in an environment that is full of narrow partisan agendas.

He points out that the unceremonial departure of Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ) President Fr. Frank Bwalya from the Grand Coalition raises serious concerns about the political agenda of those behind his removal, describing the development as troubling and unacceptable.

And Grand Coalition Chairperson Fr. Leonard Chiti has told QFM News in an interview that they respect the decision by NAREP to pull out of the coalition.

Fr Chiti says the coalition will convene tomorrow and discuss the way forward following the pulling out of NAREP and ABZ.
