–The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) has urged government to initiate dialogue on developmental projects with all opposition political parties.

UPF Zambia Chapter-Secretary General, Rudolf Faerber, also called on government to offer an olive branch to all political parties in enhancing development in the country.

Rev Faerber said the UPF acknowledges the efforts all political parties put in during the just-ended Presidential election campaigns but said it is now time for them to support each other for the benefit of the Zambian people.

He has since urged all politicians to forget about the political rivalry and embrace the spirit of togetherness and give support to the government of the day in fostering development in the country.

In a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Rev Faerber, however, praised opposition political parties for exhibiting maturity by allowing a smooth transition of power.

And Rev Faerber has reaffirmed UPF’s commitment of promoting peace through interreligious dialogue and to ensure that there is political harmony in the country.

Meanwhile, the UPF has commended President Edgar Lungu for appointing Ms Inonge Wina as Vice President, saying the appointment has given an inspiration to many women in the country who are aspiring for high offices.

Rev Faerber also praised Mr Lungu for embracing the leadership style of the late President Michael Sata of being gender-sensitive.
