The Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (CSAWUZ) in Kasama has called on newly appointed Vice President Inonge Wina to look into women affairs in the country.

CSAWUZ Kasama District Women chairperson Ireen Lupiya said Ms. Wina being the first female Republican vice president will be in the best position to look into the plight and challenges women were facing in various sectors of the society including the civil service.

In a statement to ZANIS in Kasama today, Ms. Lupiya said Vice President Wina should address issues affecting women as they were partners in development.

She said the union is confident that the vice president will perform her duties diligently.

Ms.  Lupiya praised President Edgar Lungu for showing confidence in women through Ms. Wina’s appointment.

She said the union was looking forward to more female appointments to decision making positions.
