Dar es Salaam, Friday 16 January 2015 – We take this opportunity to inform the general public that the suspension of operations, which was announced on Monday 12 January 2015, has now been uplifted and all train operations have resumed with immediate effect.
This development follows a ruling by the High Court of Tanzania, Labour Division, declaring the strike by the unionized workers of TAZARA in Tanzania as unlawful.
The Court also ordered that the employees are permanently restrained from conducting illegal strikes in future.
In the meantime, we have also managed to source funds to pay all the employees their salary arrears, which were a subject of the strike both in Zambia and in Tanzania.
Workers in both countries have resumed work immediately.
