Government through the Rural Roads Unit (RRU) has started upgrading feeder roads in Kaputa District.

Kaputa District Commissioner, Chrispine Kachusha said the unit commenced the upgrading of the roads last month and has so far done over 13 kilometres of the road.

He said RRU is expected to work on five major feeder roads in the district during this period.

He explained that the upgrading of the roads is meant to open up agricultural areas and ease the movement of people, goods and
services in the area.

Mr. Kachusha said this in an interview with ZANIS after inspecting the works on the Kalaba-Muchenja road where RRU has done over 13 kilometres of the road.

He added that the Road Development Agency (RDA) is also expected to work on four other feeder roads in the district this year which will open up more areas for production in the district.

Mr. Kachusha noted that roads in the district where in a deplorable state but the upgrading will change the status of the district.

He has since thanked the provincial administration in Kasama for releasing the funds to upgrade the roads in Kaputa.
