MAL officers operate in corridors
Lufwanyama, January, 1, 2015, NAIS—Some officers in the Ministry of Agriculture in Lufwanyama district are operating in corridors due to lack of office space.
Lufwanyama District Agriculture co-coordinator Aswell Lubungo has bemoaned the lack of office accommodation for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock in the area.
The Ministry has no office space since it was evicted from Kalulushi two years ago.
Mr Lubungo raised the concern yesterday during the District Development Co-coordinating Committee meeting at Lufwanyama Council Chamber.
He added that the lack of office space has impacted negatively on the operations of the ministry adding that officers have resorted to operating in corridors.
He wondered why this was so when the police building has more than 10 vacant offices.
In response, District Commissioner Alex Kalela said he has tried to engage the relevant authorities to secure some office space at the police building but to no avail.
The DC has since appealed to the authorities to look into the matter if the farming communities and the district as a whole were to be served adequately.
